Gil Scott Heron was and still is one of my musical heroes and crushes.
His poetry stirs my soul and incites me to action. I’m saddened to know that he’s transitioned, but delighted to know that he left such a legacy that can simply be experienced by pressing play.
I don’t have Gil’s sultry, raspy voice, but I do have his message! When I think of revolutions, the one that surrounds my body is the one that feels most present.
I found these images and immediately thought about how many women I’ve coached, talked with, spoken to and witnessed that are battling with their bodies (including older versions of me). I want to remind us…
- To give thanks to our legs today? (Even if they jiggle)
- Create a meal that agrees with our body’s needs + desires
- Grab a mirror and start your own body love revolution
